Talk to your doctor but you should probably stop breastfeeding (I imagine you already have stopped). While there is some protection to an unborn baby, a mother can still pass the infection when breastfeeding. Your doctor may want to run some tests on you and your baby to see if this may have happened. Also, a lot of doctors do not recommend starting HIV treatment immediately and instead base it on how your body is responding to the infection and try to make an informed decision with you. Good luck.

When u are pregnant they first do a HIV test to check your status.
The reason why they do the test is to protect ur unborn child from being infected with the virus they give u some medicine to take while u are pregnant that will help the child from getting the virus.
then you are not allowed to breastfeed ur child if you are HIV positive.even if your child is also HIV.Becouse u are re-infecting the child and the child will get very sick and end up dying.

And you have to go to the clinic regulary they will give dates to check your CD4 COUNT and if it is very low they will tell you when to start taking your ARV'S.

And eating healthy -using a condom while u have sex with ur partner even if u are both HIV.

only the nurses will tell u when to take the ARV'S BY CHECKING YOUR CD4 COUNT regulary.

eating healthy will also help if u are visiting your clinic to check your CD4 COUNT.

i have two sisters who are also HIV positive.the ather one is on ARV'S and the ather one her cd4 count is still high so she ok.

the one that's on ARV'S she was diagnosed 2000
and the ather one last year october.

The only way to find out if your baby Is HIV+ is to go to your doctor and get them to test the baby. HIV can be passed to the baby through breast milk which is why a mother is warned not to breastfeed if she's HIV+. Your doctor or public health nurse should be able to refer you to many places on how to keep healthy. It's best to have a doctor who specializes in HIV patients. Or you can check your local phone book or Internet as to resources on HIV clinics in your area. Good Luck.
