I was told I have a very slight one (the doctor can only tell its their when I am lying down) She says it is so slight and I probably had it since birth, that it most likely nothing (though we are having it tested this summer, better safe than sorry) but what exactly IS it? something about extra blood in your heart?

Although I am no medical doctor- but I will try to break it down for you...
Bascially the Heart is made up of 4 chambers... 2 upper and 2 lower... the blood fills the upper chamber on the first beat- then on the 2nd beat-- pushes the blood from the upper chamber into the lower chamber thru valves...
When you have a heart murmur- The valves that seperate the upper and lower chambers do not completly close - thus causing a "backwash" effect into the upper chambers... and thats what your doctors are hearing- the blood going back into the upper part of your heart... if its slight- there is no need to panic =D

Hope this makes you feel better!!

It's just a sound associated with the mechanical pumping action of the heart, Dr. will have to run tests to determine the source of the sound. It may be nothing or something, wait and see what DR. SAYS.

It's a hole in your heart more like a crack. When your heart pumps, blood splashes out. I had it when I was child but it closed up now. Nothing serious if your Dr. wasn't trippin'.
