Herpes Simplex Virus comes in two forms HSV -1 and HSV-2. Usually, but not always, HSV is the cold sores you get on your mouth and HSV-2 is the type you get on your genitals. BUT, that distinction is becoming obsolete since both types can show up in both places.
it is possible to transfer herpes without knowing it. Watch those valtrex commericials and they say 70% of people got herpes when their partner had no symptoms.. Your boyfriend may have had a mild outbreak before and he just didn't know what it was. Your doctor should give you more information on this.

Lets clarify a few points.
Yes it is possible your partner gave you herpes without him knowing he had it. Some people are carriers and don't experience the physical symptoms.
Yes there are 2 different types of herpes 1. Oral 2. Genital
Best thing you can do is go to your doctor - who will give you a prescription, that will aid in preventing future serious outbreaks.
Look after each other!

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about seven years ago, while I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I realize lots of girls will say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/567fJ everything improved.
Not only was I able to clear away all remnants of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a packed restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to help you too by sharing this with the World.

If you two have two different types, he didn't give it to you. Herpes is a virus and there are different mutations of this virus. If you two have different mutations, then you got it from different places. It's possible for one person to be infected with more than one type though. And it's not likely that it mutated after he infected you, in case you were wondering.

a number of those solutions are super! yet you do ought to bypass to a doctor and have the herpes typed. it is amazingly obtainable you have HSV 2 orally. whether you have on no account achieved oral or finished something in any respect. that's particularly obtainable that somebody which you have the two shared chapstick with, drank after, or maybe kissed could have HSV2 from performing oral on an contaminated individual, and gave it to you thru touch. they could no longer have even are conscious of it, because of the fact it is obtainable to unfold herpes devoid of even having a virulent disease. Be very careful approximately this. it is hassle-free to unfold the virus whether you're no longer having a virulent disease, that's called "laying off". you're able to be able to additionally be born with the virus. notwithstanding it is not comparable to fowl pox opposite to a pair peoples ideals. fowl Pox is a diverse stress as properly as shingles. they are all area of the "Herpes kin" yet no longer an STD.

the previous answerer is incorrect. The symptoms are obvious only if you are having a flare-up. When the virus is dormant it lives at the base of nerves, up against the spinal cord. Flare ups occur when the virus travels back down the nerve to the skin, which is why the outbreaks alwasy happen in the same place

If you have a different type than he has, then he didn't give it to you. If you have the same "type" in a different location (there's a difference) then I guess he did give it to you.

It is possible to not know that you have it. Some people have had it but have no symptoms and can still spread it to others.
