The only answer you're likely to get is because of the religion. You're asking why a certain religion prohibits it, and frankly, that's the answer, because it's in the Qur'an. That's like asking why Judeo-Christians take a Sabbath. Because it's in the Bible.

For reference:
"Forbidden to you for (food) are: dead meat, blood and the flesh of the swine and that which hath been invoked the name other than Allah. "
-Holy Qur'an 5:4

As for the unhealthy aspect, whether or not the pig is unhealthy doesn't matter... it only matters that Muslims believe it is unhealthy.

Not only in ancient times, but up until recent times eating pork carried a lot more dangers than most other meats if it was even slightly undercooked. Pork had to be done well, well, well done.

Pigs eat an omnivorous diet, much like people do, even more so, because pigs will eat stuff we wouldn't go near. As a result, either from rummaging and eating whatever they ran into, or from eating our throwaways, their food was much more likely to introduce various pathogens that, while the pig might be able to carry on without too much effect, would infect human eaters.

As a result, many older religions (including Judeaism) considered pork to be "evil," and proscribed eating it. Makes sense - eat it, get sick, it's evil.

Parasites, tapeworms and, in particular trichinosis were infamous pork-borne diseases.

Since science taught us from whence those pathogens came, standards improved on requirements for the pigs' diets. "Slop" now has to be thoroughly cooked and sterilized before feeding them to pigs, and many farmers focus more intensely on a vegetable-centric diet for the animals, since a lot of the dangerous bacteria and germs thrive more on meat than plants.

Nowadays, there's no physical or scientific reason for it, but religion is very much about traditions and belief. Now it's because it's considered necessary to be pure and holy, so it really does boil down to "because of the religion."

But at least we can see where it came from.

Those people who eat pork aren't aware of the harms pork causes, that's why. Many of my non-Muslim science teachers don't eat pork for the same logical reasons that we Muslims don't.
Also, you should know that eating pork is also forbidden in the Bible:
"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you." [Leviticus 11:7-8]

"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass." [Deuteronomy 14:8]
A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

REASONS why consumption of pork is not allowed:
-- It causes several diseases: Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.
Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

--- Pork has fat building material: Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.

--- Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth, by nature. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.
(AND you are what you eat. So imagine what happens to your health/body when you eat pork.)

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

---Pig is the most shameless animal, by nature. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate.

God made our bodies so He knows what's healthy for us and what's not. When He says not to eat pork, He knows what He's talking about.

In Ehiopia it's the Christians who aren't supposed to eat pork and the Muslims who do. I bet it's the same reason Europeans don't eat horse!

Ages ago, it ticked off some leader that people were paying the wrong people money to buy these animals but the only way to get a boycott going was to declare that they were religiously unclean.

Catholics eat fish on Fridays because a certain Pope wanted to support the coastal communities who supported him.

Muslims follow the Quran.
The Quran is kind of a "New Testament" for them.
And, like the New Testament, their Bible contains the Old Testament.
The New Testament allowed non-Jews (later to become Christians) to eat pork.
The Quran did not allow its followers to eat pork. The Old Testament laws were kept.

They don't eat Pork because in the old days, when people ate their meat almost raw, well they got Trichinosis.

Then, as many other traditions this got to be like a cannon, and was incorporated in the Koran...

It is indeed because it is stated in their bibles. The pigs are not considered clean animals to be eaten.
Below are the quotes from the bible
New International Version:
Leviticus 11:
6 The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you.
7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.
8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

King James Version:
Leviticus 11
6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

I am not sure why else they can not eat it but religion is pretty predominant principle in their lives

Muslims keep old testament "kosher". Split hoofed animals were unclean in the laws given to Moses.

Because their holy book says that they can't.

In the ancient world, one was likely to get sick from eating pork.
