I have heart disease, and that would be considered to be normal for my condition, but everyone that has heart problems is different, so call his doctor for advice, don't trust yahoo answers

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

first of all-anyone on here that is telling you your father will die w/out having him sitting directly in front of them along with a medical degree is ignorant.

that is a little on the low side but being that your dad had major heart surgery not too long ago, i would assume his cardiologist has him on alot of medication. this medication could lower his blood pressure a bit.

his heart isn't going to pump as efficiently as yours and mine does, so this might be a normal reading for him due to his surgery and how his heart and circulation now operates.

if your dad or you have concerns about this-talk to his dr. it's his/her job to reassure you both and make sure your dad is in the best health for his condition.

take your dad to the emergency room if

his pressure drops below 70/50
he becomes confused or disoriented
he becomes faint,dizzy,or passes out
he is overly sleepy or hard to wake up

Low but not necessairly too low--I have lived with similiar pressure for years with no severe adverse effect--little dizzy when I stand up at times--better than too high!!

But recently I quit taking one of my medications -lisinopril--and my pressure is now 115/70 and I do feel better-still take toprol--Doctor does not really approve of quitting lisinopril but I think this is for his protection in case it is not a good thing. He can say I told him so. But I do feel better and have more energy. If itstarts to go any higher I will go back on both medications.

Yes, that's a little low. Is he on blood pressure medication? The doctor needs to adjust his dose

Doctor's tend to over medicate heart patients to save the heart muscles. If I were him I would adjust it myself. What good is living if you feel like crap.
