Many reasons, some for health, it is healthier if you take the time to balance it. This is also true for those who eat meat, a balanced diet is much healthier than not. Some because they don't want to eat "anything with a face." People go vegan because they don't want to use any animal products. This makes sense when you figure out that a lot of our animal food production relies on a mixture of chemicals and the like.

I'm vegetarian for quite a few reasons.
Firstly for health reasons as my stomach never quite agreed with meat and my boyfriend suggested cutting down on meat, eventually going vegetarian to see if it got better. It did.

Then there's the thought of eating meat being a bit off-putting, treatment of animals, the cost (I'm a student haha) and so on. The reasons change from person to person.

It's much, much healthier. Decreases your cancer, obesity and heart disease risk dramatically and increases your life span about 7 years on average.
It's gentlest on the eniviroment and resources all around.
It's ethical. Nothing died unnecessarily for your food.
It's also kind of anarchist and awesome because as a vegan you're not supporting the evil capitalist-driven meat and dairy industries, fast food or the skin trade.

The reasons go on forever and ever...

It is probably healthier. I am not sure, but I think very ancient people used to not eat meat or meat products and would live for hundred of years.

Mostly it's personal choice, I became a vegetarian because I felt it was wrong to eat inoccent animals bred to be killed for us to eat. I love animals way to much to eat them, I just don't feel like being a part of the whole murderous(personal opinon dont start ranting on me) scene.

if you are fighting cancer or some other illness, then you do not need meat. It takes more to digest, and eating all RAW fruits and veggies also flushes out any impurities in your system.
I eat only a little meat, like one serving every other day and that is due to low tolerance of lack of protien. I eat mostly raw fruits and veggies. Some dairy but not much.

I saw a lamb get slaughtered, well more like heard the noise and accidentally stepped in the blood. Then I learned about vegetarianism and realized it was very healthy, so I am staying one mainly because of health.

i woke up one day and felt like sickened to eat animals. i just felt unholy. wondered if God would punish me for eating something with blood and a face. also, some animals are seen as pets that are seen as friends, and people do not eat their friends
