First of all, she won't die if she takes her doctors advice and medication. It can be either a bacterial or viral strain and is an inflammation of the bronchae, causing mucous in the lungs. She'll be coughing a lot, but if she's seen her doctor, she can call and ask if she's contagious so you can have an honest answer. Good luck to both of you and don't worry.

Pneumonia is an infection of the respiratory tract in either the lungs (one or both) or the bronchi caused by either a virus or bacteria. Antibiotics will cure the bacterial type but not the viral type. If your friend is young, generally healthy, and a nonsmoker she should be able to recover, but it will take time. You need to be aware that if you start getting cold symptoms to go to the doctor for treatment because some types are contagious and it depends on the stage of her illness when whe was with you.

Pneumonia is an infection in the lungs. It can be treated successfully with anti-biotics,etc. Fluid on the lungs is called pleurisy. Depending on the lobe of the lung where she has pneumonia, recovery can take a while, she will be tired and sleep most of the time. Prognosis is much better now-a-days with new medications. Your friend should be okay.

"Pneumonia is a serious infection and/or inflammation of your lungs. The air sacs in the lungs fill with pus and other liquid. Oxygen has trouble reaching your blood. If there is too little oxygen in your blood, your body cells can't work properly. There are different kind of pneumonia and it is according to what kind your friend has and I would think she would not have the really bad kind if she is going to spend the night with you.

It is a narrowing of the smallest vessels in the lungs that carry and pass oxygen into the body. These y get inflamed and thus points in your lungs swell and narrow from bacteria or a virus which causes an infection. This makes it difficult to breath. You need to breath harder to force the oxygen into your bloodstream at this point of exchange.. An oxygen mask to give each labored breath much more oxygen than normal and an RX can also be given to open the inflamed areas and have a lot more oxygen flow into the bloodstream again.

Pneumonia is nothing more than fluid in the lungs. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or even by physical means, such as aspirating (breathing in) water/fluids, as happens when drowning. It's not usually contagious, but it doesn't hurt to keep your distance anyway.
