Restaurant menu described my gyro as pita filled with gyro meat. Very tasty, but what exactly is it? Beef? Lamb?

Dog? Horse? WTF?

Lamb, I have a gf who is full blood Greek and her parents run a Gyro
restaurant--they told me the meat is lamb.

well well what can i say what you are describing is a souvlaki that we greeks eat a lot of here in Greece. we eat them like you americans eat the hamburger.

see pictures in the above site and youll see meat being cooking on a spike that is gyro.
Here in Greece we have them made out of layers of lamb, or chicken.

It is usually lamb!! I think it is delicious in a gyro!!!! If you live in Dayton Ohio go to Greek Isle Deli It has the best gyros EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
