My home town. I grew up there. Have you been to the canoe museum. It is terrific It cronicals the canoe from the time of the voyagers to the present with lots of boats from different cultures around the world and it's not just boats but history too and other things. It's well worth the small admission they charge. I've been through it a few times on visits home and find something I missed almost every time.. Take a walk through Jacksons park. It's a quiet oasis in the center of the city. Or any one of the city parks. Enverlea park is along the Otonabe river and where I spent a lot of time when I was growing up. Lang century village is just outside of Peterboro and it will take you back to pioneer times. There are people working in the different places and guides to tell you about the different homes and businesses. Take a drive out to Buckhorn and tour the quaint stores antique shops and art galleries. The gallery on the lake rivals any big city art gallery. They also have a very good large shoe store that I hit when they have a sale in the summer. There are so many small towns around Peterboro that beg to be explored. As for shopping-- Have you been across the bridge to East City. There are different stores there. Toronto is at your doorstep and greyhound has about a dozen trips a day. It takes about 1 1/2 hours and stops at the depot down town. You could do like many people in Peterboro do. Take the bus in the morning and come back at night. I hope this gives you a little more info.

I love the zoo there. Quirky, but interesting, and free! There are walks all around there. The Lift Lock is interesting to see as well, with walking trails, and the museum up on the hill above it. Hutchinson House is worth a visit, and they have good teas there on certain days. In the area, there are a few places - the Reptile place to the east, at the junction for the road that goes to the Lang Pioneer Village, also interesting. These are all places I've been. I'm sure there are others!
