Ok....I have this problem. Opening a can of biscuits scares the crap out of me. I just can't do it. I am so terrified of the "pop" that it makes. I have literally ran and hid from someone chasing me with them threatening to open them and I was on the edge about to cry. Is there something I can do to make this better?

What you can do is wrap the can with a tea towel or a kitchen towel and then whack it on the side like would normally do.

The towel will muffle the pop and contain the canister.
Just unwrap the towel and bake normally.

probably referring to refrigerated biscuit dough like from pillsbury, there are generic store brand biscuit doughs too. this recipe tastes like McDonalds apple pies: 2 tablespoons butter 4 McIntosh apples, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 (8-piece) container refrigerated flaky biscuit dough For the filling: Add the butter to a large saute pan and melt. Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice and cook over medium heat until the apples are soft, about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool. When the filling is cool, roll the biscuits out on a lightly floured surface so that each biscuit forms a 7 to 8-inch circle. Place 2 to 3 tablespoons of the filling on 1/2 of each circle. Brush the edges of the circle with water. Fold the circle over the filling to make a half-moon shapes. Seal by pressing the edges with the tines of a fork. Heat a deep fryer or a deep pot halfway filled with oil to 350 degrees F. Carefully add the pies to the oil, 1 at a time, and fry until golden brown, turning the pies as necessary for even browning, about 5 to 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar immediately.

It can't hurt you--it's just cardboard. Only the ends are metal, and they're not even sharp. It's much safer than opening a can, even one with a pull-tab lid. They also don't explode--just a little dough leaks out the side when you pull back the cardboard.

If you're scared of whomp biscuits, why not use Bisquik and make fresh ones? :)

Maybe wrap them in a kitchen towel first...? Also, you might want to look into why this is such a "phobia" for you... sounds like you are a bit jumpy. Seriously, did you endure some kind of trauma when you were younger that makes you so afraid of them? Good luck.

Trick your self. In steam of waiting for the noise that scares you, I open the can a little than hit it on the side of the counter. That way you are inflicting the noise.

Your scared of loud noises. Get yourself used to the loud noise and then you will probably get used to the popping sound that it makes.... but don't give up... keep on making those biscuits.

i run a butter knife around the seam or take a sharp knife and cut into the paper next to the round metal part to let the pressure off then stick a butter knife in the seam and pop it open

Get counseling. Life is too short to dwell on little issues when you could be dwelling on the big ones.
