depends on where it is, and how old it is. On your skin, a blood clot is a scab. It you take a bunch of blood and put it on a plate, it will look like a dark red (purple) blob of thick jello. Inside your blood vessels it looks like this too.

Symptoms of a blood clot in your arm or leg would be swelling, inflammation, redness or a decreased color (pale - bluish) as well. They are painful.

If there is a clot in your lung, you would be short of breath with activity & at rest. There would be pain in the location. You would feel "impending doom." Heart irregularities could develop.
