Pasta is made from duram (?spelling) wheat and water, sometimes egg too. Noodles and pasta have a distant historical link and have been around for centuries, so the inventor is, presumably, dead!

The Arabs claim to have been the first to use dried pasta, as a means of preserving flour during their forays across the desert. But regardless of their origin, we do know that the Chinese have been feasting on noodles for approximately 2000 years, since the Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). In fact, some experts believe that the Italians got their first taste of pasta when Marco Polo returned home from his long trek across China with a host of exotic food items, including noodles.

Legend has it that Marco Polo brought pasta from the Orient.

But you may be thinking of the inventor of Nissin Cup Noodles , Momofuku Ando.

made from the flour of certain grains mixed with water and/or eggs, which is then kneaded and formed into various shapes, and boiled prior to consumption.

The Chinese, Arab and Italian peoples all claimed to have been the first to create noodles, though the first written account of noodles is from the East Han Dynasty between 25 and 220 CE.

There was a big tv scam a long time ago (when pasta was still seen as quite exotic), which said spaghetti grew on trees, and showed it there. Quite a few people fell for it!
