No, marijuana does not have more chemicals than cigarettes. They are both burned vegetable matter with about the same number of chemicals.

The reason people take any drug is because it makes them feel good. That applies to both cigarettes and marijuana.

You are obviously new to this subject so I suggest that you start your education by reading something really interesting -- the story of why marijuana was outlawed in the first place. It had nothing to do with the health effects. You can find it at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/whiteb1.htm It is a funny and fascinating story.

I found this one article about the 420 chemicals...I don't think that's true. People smoke it for a lot of medical reasons.

One piece of evidence supporting an origin of the term from the time 4:20 is the fact that the number is always said "four twenty" and not "four hundred and twenty".

In 1955, Raj Kapoor directed a film entitled Shree 420 (Mr. 420), a reference to someone who has a reputation for theft and deception, since apprehensions for such crimes are usually section 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

Other theories include the following:

* Urban legend claims, incorrectly, that 420 is or was a police code for a drug bust or for "marijuana smoking in progress", or that 4:20 is or was the shift change for the police.
* It was, at one time, believed that there were 420 chemicals in marijuana.

Eating food puts many chemicals in your body, too, so you may wanna stop eating if you are so chemical-phobic. Oh, also stop using gas stoves, stop using electronics, stop using any additives to your foods/drinks, and stop breathing in air. Oh, and never use any medications given to you by a doctor ever again. They are full of chemicals. Oh, and one more thing, cut out your own brain, cause it is choc-full of chemicals! (Well, maybe not yours, but most are.)
