I've been told that if not, I will eventually get litterally strangled by a swollen nodule. First time in hospital. Scared witless. Anyone been through same? What type of anesthetic is used? Info, please.

I had a large nodule/tumor growing on the right side of my thyroid a year and a half ago.

The doctor said there was a 10-20% chance of it being cancer, and that I should get half of my thyroid removed.

IT WASN'T THAT BAD!! I had never been in the hospital before either!!! After the surgery I only felt a little pain in my throat, but I could talk fine! Within a week or two of surgery I was out and about again.

Don't be scared!!! I was freaked out at first, but now I'm sooo glad I had it done!!

dont worry, u will be fine. my wife had it done, went home the same day an was just a little sleepy. the anesthetic; just enough to make u sleep till their finished.the nodule will only require a small insicion. u wont feel a thing. they will keep u only untill it wears off, in a few hrs.they will before they put u to sleep the dr will tell u what hes gonna do, an put an iv line in ur arm. ull just feel a little sting. so dont work urself up over a small surgery. u will be fine, dont worry. u will feel great when u go home. ill be praying for u. god bless

My sister had this, she went under general anesthia. She had her entire thyroid removed and radioactive treatment. She is on medicine now for the rest of her life but feels so much better than before the sugery. Good luck! Try not to be too stressed, it is better to get it out of your body and get healthy! = ) Thank goodness they found it and can take care of it for you.
