But i've had these symptoms for a couple of weeks so I know that it's not a heart atack or anxiety, so what else might it be?

Then you have had time to look at possible causes...did you evaluate yourself? There are myriad reasons for your symptoms but only a hands-on doctor can evaluate and diagnose you....not these guys on yahoo. I have seen many bogus answers to many questions and if you feel that your life...your veritable existence depends on these answers...then tell my mother hello as you pass through the Pearly Gates.

i thought at first that this might be heart attack, but it seems to me like it's more of a respiratory problem, probably from smoking, it's a good thing you decided to quit! what other symptoms are you having besides the pain? were you coughing, because this could mean infection in your lungs. smoking increases your chances of infection, and it also lowers your immune system. or like you said it could also be asthma. or this could also be a more serious pulmonary hypertension. i would advice you to make an appointment again to see a doctor, because this sounds very serious.
