I have had gentile herpes for six years. I date and have a normal sex life. My man is okay with it.
The "no" answers vex me greatly, but that is their choice. I am a smart, kind, beautiful, loving woman. In the few years I've had this rash I have found out I know six women with herpes....all of them like me. Most are married, with children.
As a side note: What is "normal"? there are folks out there who have sex with a dozen people (or more) each year. Is that normal? Some in the same weekend! Some people want their lover to pee on them, or watch others have sex or crazy things like that. Is that normal?
Herpes is a rash. It is JUST a rash. Nothing more, nothing less. Yes, it's a pain. Yes, it's an inconvenience. So what. Big deal.
But if I did not have it and knowing what I know now.....then:
No, it will not keep me from someone who is loving, honorable, decent, kind, smart. If I loved them, then their health situation (while a concern) would not be a deterrent. I would not let a skin rash keep me from the person my heart does somersault for. Sex should not define the relationship.

Over 80% of adults have herpes in their mouth. A smaller number have it down there. Oral herpes is the same thing as genital herpes. It is just in a different place. It is transfered down south by having someone with it in their mouth going down on you without protection.
In most cases, it doesn't change your sex life, just make sure you are not allergic to latex (condoms) and use one EVERY time, with everyone you have sex with.

From what I understand.
Women know when they have herpes, the have breakouts, that are very painful.
Men don't always know they have herpes, they do not have breakouts like women do, they show little to no sign of having the STD. That's how it is spread so easily.
Your best bet is to find someone who has herpes or who is educated about it to have a relationship with.
Hope this helps.

This is a great question and two years ago I would have said absolutely no. But I met someone who did not know they had herpes until we were together. How in the world does one stop loving someone just because of this?

Hmmm well if I was already datign them and they strted to develop the, yes I would stay with them.
If I liked a guy and I heard they had herpes..I probably wouldnt wanna get any closer.
What you could do is take medicine.....and get emotionally close with someone before you have sex and tell them, they should understand.

You can never have a normal sex life. Flare-ups = no sex at all. Besides, How can I trust you?
Knowingly I will not date someone with herpes (dormant or active).
