I am also an RN. I have done some home care for patients who have had extensive plastic surgery and charged them $55/hr. Of course they had the $ so that was ok. It's different. If the pt. was to go through an agency, he would pay considerably more than that. Also, where you live has something to do with it. I live in Florida, so wages stink here. I would charge him fairly based on needs. If he is total care, you should not get less than $50. If he needs minor assistance, maybe $40. If you are staying more than a few hours a day, this may be burdensome for the pt financially.

Understanding that you need to make a living, I would go with a competitive rate depending on where you live. I would also take into consideration the family's financial situation. Many people need home care but can't afford it. You have a gift, give generously if you can. My mom needed homecare this year. I see you guys as angels

im an lpn and i used to make between 25 and 30 an hr so u should be charging more than me

That really depends on where you live. Why not ask others in your profession what the going rates are?
