and I have gained 15 pounds. I am not a heavy eater, and have also had trouble with weight gain, but this is crazy. Could it be just all of the fluids, or does Neurontin cause weight gain. This medication really does help me alot, but I just can't understand it....can someone out there help me?

One of the side effects of Neurontin (generic name is gabapentin) is somnolence. Have you been feeling 'lazier' or more fatigued than usual?

If you do have excess fluids, of course this can be a reason: most of our body weight is actually water.

I would think the latter, since I find it hard to believe that just somnolence for 3 weeks can result in that kind of weight gain. Unless you're also on high doses of steroids.

Water is heavy.

Hope this helps.

Neurontin can cause swelling. Swelling = water retained in the body, and water = weight.
You probably are resting and therefore not burning off any energy, this will also cause weight gain.
And of course, you are probably bored, not being able to be active, and maybe eat more because of boredom???

For some reason, this scenario sounds familiar. Lord, I come to You now, asking that you be with the nephew, the mother, and this entire family. Show them mercy and love. I pray his child survives. All in accordance with Thy Will. In Jesus' Name, thank You, Father. Amen. † Comforting Prayer Warrior †
