First..... I am sorry your brother has this disease..my yongest son does also, so I know what it is like. How old was he when he got it? My son was 4..he is now 21.
As far as recipes go...your brother can and should eat a normal balanced diet..if he is seeing an endrocinologist (diabetes specialist) he will learn how to balance what he eats with the amount of insulin he takes. You really CAN fix anything you would fix for anyone else....he just needs to know what is IN , say, a casserole, so he can determine the carb content. You are a great sister for wanting to do what is best for him!

"diabetic food" usually applies to prepacked foods labeled that way. The trick to meal preparation for diabetics is learning to balance out what foods they can eat or avoid, and amounts they can eat, even in protein, carbs, etc. his doctor should have a good list to start with, and there is vast info on Internet.
