What works for me is to put about 1/4 tsp granulated white sugar under the tongue and hold it there. This has worked even for babies, less sugar is needed.

There are many cures including intravenous medications. None is effective on a regular basis. Statistically the most likely to work is simple table sugar on the soft palate. The medical term for hiccups, in case you're interested, is singultus.

Have someone give you a drink of water whilst you've got your ears plugged (your fingers) as you gulp/swallow. That's worked for me without fail for yonks.

Take a drink of water, plug your ears, and swallow 3 times. It worked for me when I was pretty drunk, if it works for drunken hiccups it should work anytime.
