When I have a basketball game, I've noticed that I can't breathe within 6 minutes of the game. I'm also very forgetful, so if I forget my inhaler, what should I do?

When all the reminding has failed and backups are no where to be found and you have nothing but yourself to rely upon...

Then you need to find your best technique for slowing your heart. Ex. induced Asthma happens largely inpart due to the heart rate. So slowing the heart will counter the effects of the attack. The hardest part is getting the mind over it. I used to suffer from this in grade school and oddly enough getting into martial arts and learning breathing technique has helped me to avoid it for 20+ years. Get into the habits of forced long breaths, you will start avoiding the attacks.

I also have exercise induced asthma. It never fails when you don't have your inhaler, that is when you need it. I would have a backup either with a team mate or your coach. It also sounds like you might need to manage you asthma better. I have a pretty severe case myself, but can still do activities without needing my inhaler. I would go to your doctor and talk to them about the fact you can't even play basketball without your inhaler. It should not be this way.

Could just be anxiety. Practice breathing techniques. 4 seconds inhale 4 seconds exhale. Stay relaxed.

Keep a spare. When your inhaler is half way through, order another one and keep that one with you and keep the spare at home.

ask your coach and see if he can hold on to it (if you have an extra one) for the entire season that way you son't have to bring it every game.
