I find that staying on the comp can make you unable to sleep properly. Therefore dont do anything that makes your brain too active before going to bed. When you wake up and cant back to sleep after 30 mins I would doing somethig like read a book or magazine, but dont go on computer, then when you feel tired go back to sleep. Or you could make hot milk or chamomile tea they make you feel sleepy.

You could also take Valerian and hops, it can keep you sleeping for longer, which you can get at health food shops.

I would try to avoid phamacutical drugs unless nothing else works.

Do you know why you're waking up?

As Strawberry asked, are you stressed? What time are you going to bed at night? Are your blankets too hot? What about your mattress: Is it getting old and starting to break down?

A few gentle stretches, a soothing cup of tea in the evening, and half an hour or so of relaxing before you actually lay down might help.

Good luck!

How often do you wake up and how long do you stay awake? This is posted in the respiratory diseases section, do you believe you might hae sleep apnea or was it just chance that put your question here?

There are "sleep doctors" who can do sleep studies for you which involve staying overnight in a sleep clinic hooked up to monitors to determine why you are having trouble sleeping. Talk to your regular physician about possibly being referred to a sleep specialist if you can't figure out why you are waking up.

Good luck!
