My Doctor tell me it's nothing to worrying about, but I feel uncomfortable that this is now happening \and would like to know if there is any medication that I can take that will help to eliminate this mucos from coming up. It is like I am choking when it happens...disgusting.

the mucus coming from your chest might be based on food intolerance. stop with all dairy products as they are mucus forming and you can check yourself for food intolerance as the asthma and the chest infection suggest the same too. to help the mucus go start with Acidophiles but get one with NO dairy (casein) products in it! also stop with yeast containing foods like whit yeast bread, vinegar, mushrooms, beer, wine etc. and to make sure that you don't have yeast infection check yourself with nutritionist.
good luck.

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.

If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.

The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.

Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).

You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

I have asthma and i get this sometimes, i think its when your airways are irritated this clear mucous is produced. Try doubling the dose of your preventer inhaler morning and night.(perfectly safe my doc has me do it in hay fever season) You could also try some antihistamines and consider changing your quilt and pilllows to hypo allergenic in case its an allergy to them. They arent expensive, wash your bedding regurlarly too.
If its stll a prob then make an appoint with the asthma nurse at your g.p surgery, she can check your meds are right for you. I see one twice a year and its a great help. Keep animals out of the sleeping area and keep it well ventilated. (no smoking in there either if you do smoke)Good luck x

You may have a little cold or an allergy. The fact that it is clear tells that it is not much of an infection. I would try Mucinex two or three times a day for a few days. My son has asthma and it works wonders for him when that happens.

Well the back rub may be nice anyway.
The mucus does not sound too serious.
Try something....Drink a glass of very warm water when you get up and see if this does not help dissipate the mucus.
I also use Halls cough drops when I feel congested.
If it gets worse I would see an upper respiratory specialist.

my 4 yr old has asthma. i watched a programme about asthma and it said the mucous in the morning could be an allergy. you need anti allergy duvets and pillows. no carpets in bedroom. all asthmatics are allergic to bed bugs and dust mites which is why you should have the anti allergy mattress and pillow protecters. i did all this for my son and he has stopped getting it. good luck

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his allergies has shown no sign of having better. He has been to quite a few docs yet they did no longer help lots. in case you desire a shown, all-organic thank you to treatment your allergies, with out having to pay for ineffective drugs with volatile edge-effects, then it somewhat is the main extreme web site you will ever examine.

I agree that with a history, you do have allergies.

Try getting an air cleaner to filter allergens from your air, and consult a specialist, since your doctor seems to be shrugging off your concerns.

Good luck!

It could be post-nasal drip. I would try Flonase. That is what works for me.
