an egg is non-veg. Think about it... it's a baby chicken.

But if you follow the reasoning that it's veg because it needs conditions to grow.... a baby cow is just a seed planted, and if it doesn't plant in the uterus, then it rots, so has veg characteristics....
But there's a reason eggs and beef are not found in the produce section.

I'm sure some will think I am just trying to be gross. But an egg is not a baby chicken. A fertilized egg can become a baby chicken. But most eggs sold in stores are not fertilized.

An egg is the menstral waste of a chicken. Just like the human female, the chicken has a cycle and releases an egg at the end of each cycle, only with the chicken the outer layer of the egg is much harder than a human female. I don't think anyone here would argue whether the menstral waste of a human is veg or not, but according to a few of you it would be.

Think about what you eat. The chicken's egg is not designed for you, and in reality, is no different than licking on a tampon lollipop.
Oh, some of you eat it cooked, then I mean a deep-fried tampon.

An egg is an animal reproductive body consisting of an ovum or embryo together with nutritive and protective envelopes as you si an egg comes from an animal, and as far as i know vegs don´t.
I don´t see what are the reasons to cosider an egg a veg, a seed can´t grow if it isn´t under ground or under any kind of soil, an egg can develop with out a hen (if its environment has the right tempeture). Knowing this would you consider an egg a veg?

Eggs are vegetarian, because they are like the chicken's period, pretty much.

Chickens lay the eggs once a day for a few years until they are "spent". These eggs are not fertile unless the chicken had contact with a male. Unless you're talking about from a small farm where there is the possibility of breeding going on, and there might be ONE male. If there is a male, there is a possibility that they are fertile, meaning they would be non-vegetarian. However, this is highly unlikely, especially from the places were most people get eggs--the grocery stores, where eggs are bought from HUGE farms that keep the hens in such small cages and all that, and there is no male. Even the cage free ones from the store have huge amounts of chickens and there are no males in the mix.

Eggs are vegetarian, in other, simpler words.

If what you are asking is whether or not vegetarians eat eggs then here is your answer. It depends on the vegetarian. Some do and some dont. Some believe that because the chicken is not killed in the process of obtaining the egg that it is ok to eat. Others who dissagree with the animal cruelty that goes along with factory egg farming.

Personally I try not to consume either eggs or milk. I dont agree with the way that the animal is treated. But because soy milk releases estrogen in the body I also try not to consume too much tofu or soymilk.

Hope this helps...

Actually John R, vegetarians eat eggs (and are still called vegetarians and nothing else), because even though it comes from an animal, it wasn't harmed to get the said egg or the fact that there is no meat included.

Vegans, on the other hand won't eat eggs because it comes from an animal (byproduct), or anything else that comes from an animal for that matter.

So depending on whether you're a vegetarian or a vegan, an egg may be non-vegetarian or not.

Hope that Helped, :-)

The word vegetable has no scientific value, therefore, the use of this term for item is subjective. However, it usually refers to edible plants that are grown from of the earth. The common debate that is going on is 'is it a fruit, or is it a vegetable'. No one really argues that an egg is a veg.

Thus, it can be said that you are right, an egg, is not a veg.
