I have always noticed when I feel asthma symptoms or an attack coming on, the bottom of my chin starts to itch. I feel like I can just scratch a hole because it itches so bad. I have seen a few people have this same reaction. Is it a rare thing or does it happen to everyone else as well?

Thanks for all of your answers. I just always wondered if this was a commom symptom. I do feel the itchy chest also. There is no way to scratch that!

I had serious asthma as a child and yes, my chin and neck around my throat would itch badly...

The asthmatic reaction is related to allergies, and muscle spasming.

As the bronchial tubes contract and swell, it seemed like other areas reacted in an allergic fashion.

Brings back memories...

Hmm...I have never experienced this...or can remember my chin itching. I do recall my chest and back getting very tight. I will have to think of this next time I have an attack!

possibly due to lack of circulation of oxygen since your lungs cannot produce enough oxygen. And the blood is circulationg oxygen deficient blood. Be glad you have that warning and heed it. Not all get one!!
