It appears that you are missing part of your question here. However, latex condoms are effective in preventing MOST sexually transmitted diseases from being spread. However, there are a few where the condoms are not much help (herpes, warts). In addition, remember that some people are allergic to latex and that could cause severe reactions or death in your partner.

I'm a nurse. True to some degree. You can still get an std from your partner. Also make sure you are not allergic to latex (many people are these days). If you develop a rash and/or shortness of breath see a doctor right away it can turn fatal. Take care and be safe.
