Vegetarians refrain from eating meat. Vegans refrain from all animal products such as eggs, dairy and honey. Many vegans take their resistance to animal products to extent beyond food, avoiding leather and other products that are derived from the slaughter and/or confinement of animals.

Technically, vegetarians don't eat any animal product, and vegans extend this into the rest of their lives (no wool, silk, leather, etc)

Vegetarian "wanna-be's" over time have warped the term to include eggs, milk, fish, chicken, cheese, honey, etc.

So many names have been formed to help people still feel like they are vegetarian when they actually are not. If you eat any animal product, why do you feel the need to call yourself a vegetarian? A vegetarian, in the simplest sense, would be a herbivorous creature. If you eat an animal product (milk, egg, meat), you are not even a vegetarian. Sorry if you felt you had to be part of some club.

There is a big difference- simple basic terms- Vegetarian is a blanket term used to describe a person who does not consume meat, poultry, fish, or seafood. Vegans do not consume any animal products or byproducts. Some even go as far as not consuming honey and yeast. Others do not wear any clothing made from animal products.

I believe a vegetarian will also consume fish, eat butter or margerine and sometimes drink milk products etc and a vegan will consume nothing containing an ingrediant which has a a "mother" or eyeballs.

Big difference vegetarians are people who do not eat meat- but they eat fish, drink milk, eat eggs, cheese and all dairy.

Vegans eat Nothing that comes from animals or byproducts of animals- no milk (only soy), no eggs, no fish, no cheese-- nothing that is made from an animal in any way shape or form.
