You do not *have* to add meat to your diet. If humans needed meat to live, then vegetarians would all be dead. It's simple logic, really.
As far as leather, not all vegetarians adorn their body with it. Some do and some don't. But by *this* logic, you are saying that it's either all or nothing? Isn't it better to try to be a better person 75% than 0%? Guess what, humans aren't 100% perfect and neither are vegetarians.
WIth so many people dying from obesity, why don't you focus your energy there? I'm guessing that the deaths associated directly with being vegetarian are non-existant compared to obesity deaths. Perhaps your energy would be better spent focused elsewhere.

"I'm not a vegetarian, Ive just been wondering about all this cruelty to animals stuff.?"
- Ok.
"Do you all not adorn your bodies with leather or suede."
-No we do not.
" If you do then are you a true vegetarian?"
- If you do then you may be a dietary vegetarian, you are definitely not an ethical vegetarian, and certainly not a Vegan.
" I like veggies too!!!"
-That's wonderful.
"But you have to add some kind of meat into your diet."
- No, I don't. But thanks for your concern.
" To each his/her own."
- I don't think so, we are not talking about what color someone likes, we are talking about the life of another. You can't really expect us to be so dismissive.
" If you people don't eat meat than its more for us !!!"
- YeHA! You eat um up then ya hear!?

If we are unable to cope on an animal free diet - some one needs to tell the Buddhists quick!
I do not adorn my body with leather and suede, just a personal fashion preference...
I choose not to eat meat as I like to know what is going into my body (understandably) and seeing as much of the meat you buy in you local supermarket has been factory reared and pumped full of chemicals, hormones and water to make it look the way organic, free range meat should I don't fancy putting that in my system.
So thanks but no thanks, I'm doing fantastically fine on just the green stuff

You don't necessary need to take pills as supplements, just if you don't have time to prepare salads with vegetables of all kinds that provides you those nutrients.
The human body is made to be vegetarian, and there's a lot of studies that prove it. By cutting meat out of your diet, besides doing a very good thing for the animals and the enviroment in general, you'll have a healthier living, and it will be a huge favor for your body.

I don't wear any product that is made of animals, there are other great choices out there, I just don't feel right for animals to lose their lives just to put shoes on my feet. Yes I am a vegetarian, I don't use products that are tested on animals like Proctor and Gamble, don't give my pets IAMS pet food, I won't eat at a KFC.I know it seems weird to some but, it makes me feel good that an animal didn't have to die just for me.I respect animals and I don't think they should be abused in anyway. I don't down meat eaters either, that is a choice for them.

i'm a vegetarian and i do NOT wear leather or suede. wearing animal skin is cruel and disgusting. and meat is NOT necessary in your diet, it is actually harder for your body to digest (if you don't believe me look it up) and has recently been scientifically proven to cause certain types of cancer. if meat was necessary, there wouldn't be any vegetarians or vegans would there? we do not NEED to take pills any more than a meat eater does either, it just makes it easier to get vitamins. why do you need to go criticizing us anyway?

I was very shocked to read a book called "Slaughterhouse" and "Mad Cowboy." It really made me understand how factory farming is cruelty to animals and how unhealthy the meat-laden diet is. Read those two books and you'll understand.
From that day I changed my eating habits. I've only had beef once in the past 7 years. If I have turkey or chicken it's organic, same with milk. I also enjoy soy smoothies. We really need fast food restaurants that cater to vegetarians with quality, organic foods.

i think your confusing vegetarians and vegans with your leather clothing statement. vegans can't have anything to do with animals, whether it be in food, clothing, oils, make-up, etc. while vegetarians can wear leather and those things, but they cant eat meat. and you do not need meat in your diet. you can replace the protein from meat with beans and nuts and vitamin b12 with supplemental pills. theres a substitute for everything with meat or else no one would be vegetarian or vegan.

i'm a lacto-vegetarian (though, i dropped direct milk, but not cheese, etc). i don't wear any leather exept i have to wear leather ballet slippers because my ballet teacher makes me get the leather ones and not the canvas ones. all my clothes are animal-friendly. i have no meat what so ever in my diet, if i did i wouldn't be a vegetarian. some say that you can still eat fish and be a vegie but fish is still flesh.
i can't force you to be a vegie but i incourage you to. visit the source links.

Listen, okay, you can stop being ignorant whenever you want to. But to each his/her own!!!!!
I do not wear any form of leather, silk, wool, etc.
If you wear this you can still be vegetarian, but not vegan. I am vegan.
You do not have to add meat to your diet considering my bloodwork is better than my vegetarian sister's and my meat eating parents' bloodwork and my anemia is gone now that I'm vegan.
Go do research before you insult others.
