Hi, I became a vegetarian around 2-3 months ago (14yrs old) and I was exposed to People for the Ethnical Treatment of Animals about 3-4 months ago. I've learned that some people hate PETA but I highly respect PETA. Now, I would just like to ask some PETA members or PETA lovers a few questions:
1. What got you into joining PETA?
2. What do you enjoy about PETA?
3. Have you been in a protest before? If so, what for?
4. Are you part of the PETA2 street team?
5. What do you do to spread the word about animal cruetly with the help of PETA?

thank you so much for taking your time to answer my questions.

please....you people who are thinking about posting rude answers, think twice.

I joined PETA because I became a vegetarian after seeing an advertisement from COK, a smaller, grassroots organization for animal rights, and then it led to discovering PETA.

I like being in PETA because they provide nice literature for you to pass out to people to help spread the word to others. I also like it because they avoid violence, unlike ALF. I think ALF is dumb--you can't fight violence with violence. I know ALF is against hurting humans in the process, but I consider bombing slaughterhouses violence.

I have not been in a protest.

I am part of the street team and have been for a couple years since I discovered it.

I spread the word by passing out literature and leaving it in stores. I put stickers in pockets of clothing in stores. I post links where I can. Sign petitions, spread around petitions. Stuff like that.

no longer a member of PETA, yet: a million. It relies upon completely on the guy. i don't have faith people are inherently extra important than different animals. i think of the variety of view is at superb conceited. contained while it comes to maximum folk, i could shop the canine(s.) 2. maybe for the antelope, yet i'm no longer likely to cajole the lion to end eating antelope, s/he extremely won't be in a position to do something to outlive. 3. No, seem at what befell while human beings killed off the wolves. This brought about deer populations to skyrocket, which merely provided an excuse pertaining to to the would desire to kill them. Overpopulation leads to a loss of components. Given the stability of Nature, it is possibly that extra antelope could die of starvation than could have been killed via lions. 4. confident, it extremely is a logical end to make approximately that faq. word that Y is a factor of X. 1. I'm against violence, and animal cruelty is violence. It's totally horrendous and antiethical what people are doing to animals.
2. Thank God for PETA! They are making an amazing effort to save thousands of animals a year, and I'm proud to be part of that
3. Yes. I've been in a protest against KFC.
4. Yes, I'm part of the PETA2 Street Team. It's more focused on college students and it's great because I get to know a lot of people like me (vegetarian and activists) and they're doing a great job around different colleges.
5. Every time I have the opportunity to do something to save animals, I don't think it twice and whenever I have the chance to talk to someone about PETA and animal rights, I do so.

I believe that every person that is a vegetarian should be involved in PETA. This doesn't mean that you have to be in every single protest or be an activist 24/7. Even if that's not your kind of thing, with your donations you are helping PETA as well.

PETA is a controversial group. Their aims are admirable, but their activities sometimes (often) turn people off. It is more than just turning people into vegetarians. One of their tactics--spraying paint on people wearing fur got them a lot of bad publicity. They have pointed out the hypocracy of avoiding meat, but wearing leather shoes, belts, purses, etc. I have recently become a member of PETA. I love animals and we need to spend time and money to preserve them. I also belong to about 6 other animal groups including the Humane Society. I'm not an activist. I will sign petitions and support these groups with money. People have performed cruel acts on animals and we need to stop it. We (all animal lovers) have made some progress in stopping dog fights and cock (oops guess I have to call them rooster) fights done for sport. I do dog rescue and have a loving dog who was abandoned and abused. She was terrified and shy when I got her, and now she pokes me with her nose when she wants a hug. If you want an up-close view of what we are faced with, watch "Animal Cops" on Animal Planet. There's lots to do besides spraying people with paint and waving posters around.

I am not a member but their book aimed at kids is what converted me to vegetarianism. I think they're alright, people dont like some of their tactics but frankly I applaud their members because anyone willing to devote that time and energy to a cause they believe in should be applauded.

To "Victory" (above)- Get real. I am stunned by YOUR ignorance. I became a vegetarian at the age of 9. I was a healthy and active kid- I did gymnastics, cheerleading and ballet, and I grew to be 5'7. There's plenty more stories like mine. There is nothing in meat that you cant get from other sources. You are clearly uneducated about this and shouldn't be commenting on it.

i joined peta2.com.
i became a street team memberr. [you earn points for the things yyou do for animals, but i didn't join for the points]
i joined because i believe in the fair treatings of animals. I'm not saying that eating animals is bad, because it's not [in my opinion], it's the way that the people treat them before their death [for food purposes].
the ways that they kill the animals, is just wrong and inhumane.
i tried being a vegan, buy my body started to shut down because the lack of nutrients i wasn't getting, so i'm a vegatarian.

:D

OK, I thought twice. PETA is a cult with terrorist ambitions and no regard for HUMAN life or liberty. I beg you to at least research the other side of the PETA story before you fall prey to their madness.

I'm always horrified to hear of a child eating a vegetarian diet.

It's MUCH less likely that you will get the protiens & amino acids you need to grow as tall as your genes will allow.

Unless you want to be a shrimpy adult of 5'1", think twice.
