no. part of being a responsible pet owner is adhering to the *natural* diet of that species. dogs and cats are naturally carnivorous creatures, and therefore it is unfair, cruel, and dangerous to your pet to deny them the correct food they need just because you have a fundamental, moral issue with meat consumption (humans were give canines and bicuspids for a reason). animals don't know the implications of such issues, and it is unfair for you to attempt to manipulate their biological instincts to fit your agenda. if you wanted a vegetarian pet, you should have gone with an herbivore.

I'm not sure why they would. Even if they chose to give their pet a vegetarian diet, there are specially formulated pet foods available at specialty pet stores. Simply feeding pasta could not possibly provide enough nutrients (vegetarians themselves don't live on pasta, so why would they expect their animals to?). If you wanted to feed your pet a vegetarian diet, either get a vegetarian kibble (at a specialty pet store or online) or consult with a pet nutritionist about formulating a home-made food that will meet their nutritional requirements.

In Italy it is the normal diet for dogs with some meat and vegetables.

My dog loves his pasta. But, as a responsible pet owner of course I give him meat - but only cooked meat.

Vegetarians should feed their pets their(the pet's) proper dietary needs. If they are unsure what it is, then they should do some research, preferably before they decide to get a pet.

My mom feeds her bird cooked spaghetti noodles and he loves it. He also likes bowtie and penne pasta. He's still alive and she's been doing it for 5 years. :o)
