Anyone who has tried wasabi knows that it does something to your nose and sinuses. But I've heard every sort of theory on this and its supposed benefits / harmful effects. Does anyone know more about this?

I'm not a scientist and I am sure someone will Google the scientific answer, but I'm 41 years old and have been pounding horseradish for at least 20 years. I eat it on almost everything (not all the time, but alot). No tear duct, sinus problem here.
I'm sure it's not BAD for you.

Wasabi is great at clearing out the sinuses. Use it very, very sparingly. My brother will mix wasabi with some soy sauce and drink that up and it clears his sinus congestion up right away.

It's good for your sinuses when you eat it (with food), helps open them up and clear the passages. It's also has anti-bacterial properties for sinus infections and colds. But too much of anything is bad if you abuse it, like some idiots who snort it for kicks. It'll burn your mucus membranes if you're not careful.

I am 44 and have been eating it, using it on my foods. I am still here without any harm to my sinuses. My opinion.

I have never, in years, heard it's bad. The worst thing is if you eat too much of it, your *stomach* will hurt and make you want to barf.
I make a hot and sour soup that will kill any cold or sinus infection. Between the chicken stock, tofu, and all the hot fire oil, that'll clear out the old nose!

Good for you but remember use in moderation, what is not told here some get, METHANE, in litteral sense from eating it so airy room please , i should know!
