I just ordered something from the cafe that I thought I knew what it was, but it turned out to be something different, so now I'm wanting to know what it is that I wanted!
I ordered a Picadillo breakfast taco and received spicy ground beef in a tortilla. I did a little research on the net and found that that IS what a picadillo taco is. But what I was wanting was a mixture of scrambled eggs, picante sauce, cheese and tortilla chips mixed together and served in a flour tortilla. So what's the name of what I was expecting to get so I can order it next time?
Thanks!

I'm from Texas and we call the scrambled eggs with chips "migas" (though they could also be "chilaquiles con huevos"). Yum! But I've never seen migas served as a taco...you just get migas, with flour tortillas on the side, and roll them up into your own taco...(a very minor distinction it's true)... You could always order a potato, cheese and egg breakfast taco with salsa, and it would be very close to what you want (but with potatoes instead of the chips...)

UNFORTUNATELY, YOU GOT SOME MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS AND IT DOESN'T HAVE A NAME.
most huevos rancheros are eggs with a salsa on top which is placed over beans....wich you eat with tortillas.....
or the eggs are being made and the salsa is added to cook along then placed over the beans....
either way, no (maiz) chips are added and then eaten with a flour tortilla......they just don't mix...
i suggest you just tell them what you want and have them make it.....

It's called Sad American Rendition of Mexican food, and it has no name except whatever the cook in that cafe' you got it from decided to call it. Looks like somebody smoked some Jimson weed, got the muchies, crawled into the fridge like a hog on slop, and invented your dish on the fly. Add a couple canned Jalapenos and a fancy toothpick and you could make a quick buck selling your own crap to unsuspecting customers too.

You want chilaquiles (pronounced: chee-la-key-lez). But you need to be aware that they are prepared differently at each restaurant. Even in each home! I have never had them in a restaurant be anything like my nana used to make. Same with huevos rancheros.

Sounds like chilaquiles con huevo, only here in Mexico it is not served with flour tortilla ...
You can also try plain chilaquiles (no scrambled eggs) or chilaquiles con pollo (with chicken)...
Yummy!!!

From what you describe, I believe your thinking about Chilaquiles. Which is a traditional Mexican dish.

relies upon the temper! Mexican is extra festive and fairly spiced, you may get the smoothness of a creamy guacamole with a fierce salsa. Italian is waaay extra state-of-the-paintings and suitable marriage between tomatoes, olive oil, basil and different fairly undemanding yet sparkling factors. i could opt for Italian.
