It's very unlikely that this is caused by diabetes - diabetes can make you tired and eating sugary things will make this feel worse because they increase your blood sugar, but chocolate is not actually that high in sugar - have you noticed this happening when he eats other sugary things? Fruit juice is a good thing to use to test it out, or non-diet soft drinks, because these are very high in quickly absorbed sugars so will have the most obvious effects - not that I'm saying that's a substitute for a proper test by a doctor!!! He probably has nothing to worry about, esp. if he has no other symptoms (eg. general tiredness, increased thirst, needing to go to the toilet a lot, skin conditions), but if you're worried you should check with the dr - don't worry about wasting their time etc. - that's what they're there for and they won't think that at all - it's best to check and be safe as it's possible there are other causes. Try not to worry though - there's unlikely to be anything wrong. Hope that helps xx

Anytime you fall asleep after eating, you have consummed too many carbs for your body to handle. And yes, that is a sign of diabetes. I'm diabetic and I crave sweets like crazy. It could be that he is just heading for diabetes and to find out now that he needs to control his carb intake is a whole lot better than getting this disease full out. It is a progressive thing so he needs to be careful. Go online and type in diabetes and check out the different sites for signs of diabetes. But for type II some are overweight, apple figure-big waist, bad or bleeding gums or bad breath, dark marks on neck (too much insulin produced by overeating, change in the smell of your urine. I'm sure there are lots more. The test is simple but inform yourself and your husband. If he's eating enought to put him to sleep, he may be heading down the path and may be able to stop the progression of the disease by changing his eating habits a bit. Take him fasting to the doctor or a lab and the test is simple. If he checks out OK, it just may be that his sugar level is OK at that time. You can get a low cost glutrometer kit at WalMart and check him on a regular basis. It's a small price to pay for stopping what could be heading his way. Normal sugar is between 70 and 120. It should be there in the morning and return to that level 2 hours after eating. If his sugar is not in the norm, get him to a doctor, a dietician, an eye doctor, and a dentist immediately. Diabetes is a serious disease and a very nasty one. And go to a doctor that specializes in diabetes-don't mess around with others.

Well the only way to see if it is a medical condition is to go to the doctor. But what it kinda sounds to me like he is eating sweets to comfort him self. Has he been really stressed at work? home? family issues? Does he have any history of depression or anxiety? The reason I ask this is did you ever notice how if you have a tired crying baby give them a warm bottle and a blanket and they pass out? Well in the subconsious mind he might be finding a comfort with sweets such as chocolate which relaxes his mind which makes or allows him to fall fast asleep. Try to cut out chocolate maybe giving him another sweet outta the 'chocolate box' and monitor his behavior does he seem sleepy on edge relaxed ect. good luck

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/XJDwb
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

I agree that your husband should see a doctor to rule out any possible medical conditions. However, many people find chocolates, especially those that also contain dairy products, to actually be a sleep inducer because of the combination of tryptophan and carbohydrates. Chocolate has this effect on my husband.

You don’t need to exercise for long periods of time. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results when you work hard. Get a passing up rope, skip for two a few minutes, do push ups for about a minute, skip for two minutes, rest for one minute. Then change the push nearly something else like sit ups and do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a simple, effective workout that will recover results than a long run or swim.

Highly possible. Does he fall asleep soon after eating other sweets as well? He should be seen and check for diabetes. The sooner diagnosis occurs and treatment begins the better.
