tell your pal to tell their union rep: Youre pal would be coated with the aid of the incapacity Discrimination Act 1995. Get an appt with Occ well being or GP signing him in nice condition because of the fact the he's a nicely controlled insulin dependant diabetic. Tescos might have the well being and secure practices of others in techniques, yet in my experience of a HR supervisor interior the producing industry, as long as Occ well being say its ok, and he's unquestionably controlled, there is not any subject here.

OK, there's about 3 million people with diabetes in the UK (according to Diabetes UK). According to reginachick22 in his answer to "How can people catch diabetes?" around 5% of people with diabetes have type 1 diabetes (I don't know where he got this figure from but it sounds about right to me). This means that there is about 150,000 people with type 1 diabetes in the UK. People with type 1 diabetes can be any age, but lets say maybe 70% of them are 16 - 40 (I know this is quite high but remember even type 1 diabetes has been increasing so there are more people diagnosed now than there was 40 years ago). OK so that gives 105,000. Most of the people with diabetes that needs insulin treatment who are aged between 16 and 40 have type 1 diabetes, but lets add maybe 0.5% of the total number of type 2s (remembering 1/3 of them haven't even been diagnosed yet!) - that's 0.5% of 2850000 = 57,000 people. That makes a total of about 162,000 people. I know that was supper geeky of me to work out, but it was you who asked!!! :)
