December 2006 breakthrough:
scientists at a Toronto hospital say they have proof the body's nervous system helps trigger diabetes, opening the door to a potential near-cure of the disease. Diabetic mice became healthy virtually overnight after researchers injected a substance to counteract the effect of malfunctioning pain neurons in the pancreas.
Dr. Dosch had concluded in a 1999 paper that there were surprising similarities between diabetes and multiple sclerosis, a central nervous system disease. His interest was also piqued by the presence around the insulin-producing islets of an "enormous" number of nerves, pain neurons primarily used to signal the brain that tissue has been damaged.
Suspecting a link between the nerves and diabetes, he and Dr. Salter used an old experimental trick -- injecting capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot chili peppers, to kill the pancreatic sensory nerves in mice that had an equivalent of Type 1 diabetes.
So next they injected the neuropeptide "substance P" in the pancreases of diabetic mice, a demanding task given the tiny size of the rodent organs. The results were dramatic.
The islet inflammation cleared up and the diabetes was gone. Some have remained in that state for as long as four months, with just one injection.
yay!!! hopefully the treatment works on humans too!!

Depends on the type of diabetes you are asking about. Most can agree that Type 2 diabetes (the lifestyle related kind) will never have a "cure" in the traditional sense.
More than likely, most new cases will be prevented and it will be "phased out" through educating people on healthy living. There is no miracle drug that will cure a disease caused by the body's natural response to obesity, except for making the proper lifestyle changes. Plus, Type 2 diabetics make up a large percentage of income for pharmaceutical companies. No one will ever cure it in the traditional sense, I believe. People can often prevent and control it NOW without medication if they make the effort, but everyone wants a miracle pill.
Rare forms of Type 2 diabetes that are genetic and non-preventable (i.e. MODY) will continued to be studied.
As for Type 1 diabetes, there are lots of new advances. Some will pan out, some will not. There is much new and exciting research going on for autoimmune Type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune disease. I believe we will have early viable results by the end of the decade, if all promising research is funded and pursued in a timely fashion. Type 1 diabetes is the more severe and non-preventable form of diabetes, and makes up 5% of the diabetic population. Not a huge market.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yes there's cure for diabetes. A newly graduated doctor admitted in the net that 40 yrs ago cure for major ailments such as cancer, cardiovascular, liver , to mention a few, were already discovered. But for no apparent reason it was not publicized. Medicines today, the doctor continued , are treatment and not cure so that if you take it , you will have another malady.

I have had Type 1 for 32 years now, and I have been told that a cure is "just around the corner" since day one. I'm losing hope. There have been great advances in treatment and care and treatment of the complications, and a lot of research goes into prevention. But a cure? Not when stem cell research in the US gets waylaid by a misguided President.

There will never be a cure.
Think about how many people would be out of work if they found a cure.
No research. They would loose all the money that pays for them to have this soft job.
The last time there was a cure for a disease was for Polio and Dr. Salk wasn't an American.
I don't see a cure. Never.
