No, if you are referring to a lettuce salad. Lettuce is mostly water, enclosed by a cellulose cell wall. When you freeze water, it expands. When water in lettuce (or any leafy green, really) expands, it will burst the cell wall, and the water will run out. You'll be left with a damp network of exploded cellulose (i.e. a slimy mess).

To keep greens fresher longer, wrap them in a paper towel, and place them in a bag that allows the transfer of moisture (not a ziploc, in other words). Also, store them near the top of your refrigerator, and not in the crisper. Your salad will have a longer shelf life this way.

If by salad, you mean lettuce, then no. Don't freeze lettuce of any kind it will go dark and loose all its crunch. If you want lettuce to last longer, try washing it, wrapping it in slightly damp paper towels and putting it in an air tight container. This works great for stuff like romaine lettuce.

No, you cannot freeze salad. The best way to keep salad fresh is to put in in an air tight container (tupperware, ziplock bag, etc..) with a moist paper towel.

I don't think so. I've found frozen lettuce in my fridge (the kids have turned the fridge up to super cool) and it's quite inedible. I would say, wash the salad item and try to dry it, it might last a bit longer that way, if put in the crisper section of your fridge.

No, not most kinds. Fruit salad, but only if you like to eat it frozen. The cell walls of vegetables that have been frozen (like lettuce, cucumbers, etc.) tend to break down when they defrost, leaving you a bag of unappetizing mush.

NO. Freezing bursts the cells of the lettuce and greens, causing irreprarable damage.
