vegitarians (or semi vegiatarians)--but who still eats Bird and Fish? Just no Red Meat?

If so--why do you do this?
What's so wrong with "red meat"--that's not all that wrong with meat from a Bird or Fish?????

To Nola D.
Thanks for the very outlandish post.
No thanks to your suggestion...I have researched a little and ordered some vegitarian books from Amazon (shipment is yet to arrive)

But I also want you to understand that I am NOT attacking vegitarian diets.
I'm interested in learning more from you guys...I am thinking about transitioning to a more healthier diet myself.

I came to Yahoo Answers, instead of books and other online sources because the responses are sooo quick AND it allows me to get responses from people currently leading a vegetarian lifestyle.
I guess to me...Yahoo Answers is just a little more personal.

So please...everyone....don't see my questions as "attacks"! Because they really aren't.
I'll try to clarify that next time...with each question that I ask in the future!

Thanks Nola D.!

This is a good question, personally as a Vegan I don't quite understand it myself. Fish are not vegetables. I don't really think you will get a satisfactory answer to your question because there really is not one. This is a case of people making a word mean something totally different from what it was meant to mean because they are either looking for a label or are too lazy to become a proper vegetarian. If you find a good answer let me know. I haven't.

Vegetarians do not eat any animals. Fish are animals. If someone eats fish, he or she is not vegetarian. I do not eat meat or many animal products. (I keep on finding out some products I eat have egg white or whey in them.)

To me, if an animal is capable of suffering, I would never eat him or her. People who say they eat fish because fish are incapable of suffering are wrong. Fish go through immense pain when they are caught. Those who say they are vegetarian but still eat fish are wrong. Those who also eat poultry are also not vegetarian.

This is what I believe and think.

You cannot be considered a vegetarian if you eat red meat, fish, chicken, shellfish etc. Vegetarians eat fruits, vegetables, grains, eggs, milk and cheese. Vegans use no animal products at all, only vegs, fruits and grains. I chose to be a vegetarian because I hate the way animals that are raised for food are treated and the horrible ways they are killed.

There are people who are vegetarians because of moral beliefs against using animals as food for various reasons. There are people who are veg for health purposes. Some of those include some fish and white meat poultry in their diets. It takes dedication to get a healthy diet without some animal protein. Red meat contains more fat and other unhealthy things than fish or poultry.

there is no such thing as semi vegetarians. you are either completely poultry/fish/meat free, or your an omnivore. maybe some dont eat red meat, but there is no name for that.

I'm a vegetarian and don't eat fish or birds.
I've heard of vegetarians who eat seafood but, never birds.

Don't you have anything else to do besides pick on other people's dietary choices? Nobody has to sit here and explain themselves to you.
People eat in ways that they consider to be good for THEM. If you don't agree with their choices or their reason for making that choice then fine.
I don't eat red meat. I did research on the subject and found that was the best diet for people with my health condition.
Maybe you should get some books and do some research yourself.
