I have no idea what it is, or where it's from, but I had a cough that lasted from Thanksgiving to a few days before Christmas. It's mostly gone now, but every now and again (once or twice a day) I'll start coughing, and my chest will.. I'm not sure how to describe it, but my chest gets like all tight and my lungs kind of spasm, and I won't stop coughing for a good 5 minutes. I suppose it could be due to the high temperatures around here.... I live in PA.

I just ate alot of soup, ... and went through like 15 cough drops a day.

Even though I never went to the doctor... you probably should, just to make sure it's nothing serious.

Haven't heard of anything going around that lasts that long.

You can develop asthma at any time. But it could also be the humidity in your house is not high enough especially if you live in a cold area. You can add humidity to your air with a humidifier. It would have the same action as a nebulizer treatment without the medication.
But if your cough continues and you have any other symptoms with it, shortness of breath, chest tightness or throat irritation, fever, you need to follow up with your doctor again.

I have had a similar cough for like 6 weeks. I know of several others as well. 1 went to the DR and got antibiotics but it really did not help. Mine is gradually getting better though. I been getting plenty of rest and taking my vitamins.
