It is a great desicion, no matter what your reasons are, you will be doing a great favor to our planet.
I would suggest to get a vegetarian book, in there you can find what equivalent you need to eat instead of meat, like for example beans. You shouldn't take a desicion without a guide (either a nutritionist or a book), yes you will lose weight but you do not want to get ill. Good luck!

Well everyone has different ways. Some says stop eating meat, yes that's basic.
What I do is I linked vegetarian as a religious thing.
I know I'm not Buddhis, but one day I search about Buddha's life in Google Video. I was so so change coz of that video. It tells u a lot.
Then the next day my hole thinking pattern changes. I started to think if I eat and eat like a pig(!) I would be a 'blind' human. I think about Africa, people don't eat food so much and I compare with here, the States, people has too much food.
By then my mind has been more open, and I realize that a vegan is not a losing weight program!

First visit a slaughter house for chickens, beef, pork or veil. Or go on a hunting trip. You soon want to stop eating meat. Be sure and include nuts, soy beans, avocado, fresh herbs, and other good protein sources.

Stock your house with your favorite canned & forgen vegetables.
If you can afford it buy fresh vegatables at least 3X per week. Include fresh fruits and a varity of muli-colored vegatibles. Tofu is a good substitute for meat and tofu tens to take the favor of the seasons or other things you use to season with. If you think about it and if you had to slaughter and dress your own meat, instead of buying it in the stores, you'll soon learn to appreciate vegatables..

Mushrooms also are good to substitue for meat. You can enjoy cut up eggplant and zucinni, yellow squash, corrots and maybe a few rootabeca mixed with italian dressing and cooked in the oven until done. By being creative and versitile, you will learn that vegetables are coloful, easy to prepare and delicious.

I'm a vegetarian. I started by starting to not eat pork. Then I stopped eating beef, then finally chicken. It might seem hard at first, but after a little while, you get used to it and it's not big deal. The tricky thing is, you have to make sure you still get enough protein. I tried getting protein mix to put into shakes, but it didn't taste very good. I just make sure that I drink some soy milk everyday and try to substitute meat at dinner with a Boca patty.

Good Luck!

I was vegetarian for a year, and I didn't notice any weight difference. Decide how vegetarian you want to be: do you eat fish, eggs? Beef fat, gelatin? Do you wear leather? Expect a lot of people asking you why you are vegetarian? Expect other vegetarians to see if you are 'as vegetarian' as they are and judge you. (at least that was my experience) If you are doing it only for weight reasons, I would just suggest you just cut far back on meat. Beans, especially soybeans, are important for protien and nutrients. The health section has boca burgers and other soy fake meats, most are actually pretty good. I like roasted soynuts, they make a good snack. Cheese and peanut butter are also good to eat. I ate lot of cheese pizza, pastas and vegetarian subs while I was vegetarian. Good luck to you.

First of all, stop eating meat. If you want to be a vegan, don't eat animal products. I wouldn't recommend either. I love beef and chicken and fish and pork and everything else. Delicious. Go to the store and buy stuff that is not meat. Empty out the fridge and leave no meat. Do not eat meat. I don't think you should do it. It gives you protein.

First you have to stop eating meats. That might be a big challenge. If you have a meat craving, there are several dishes that look and taste like meat, but are entirely vegetarian.
Sidenote: being vegetarian doesn't necessarily mean you will lose weight. Vegetables do have fewer calories and fat than meat. But if you eat fried vegetables like french fries, you won't lose weight.

Losing weight is one thing. But caring for the animals is another. If you want to be a vegetarian. Think of a goal you could set like what/who it would help if you become a vegetarian, it will get you motivated easier if you like meat. Try substituting meat with something similar to it. So you'll have the same taste but you won't be eating meat. You really don't need to be a vegetarian to lose more weight. You could exercise, have a balanced diet, and control what you eat.

You don't have to become a vegetarian in order to lose weight. Besides most people that become vegetarians don't really know what they are doing and actually are more malnourished than anything. Focusing on getting educated about nutrition is the only way to actually become healthy and happy. Knowing your own body and how to feed it is the answer to all your health issues.
