Regardless of meds being over the counter or prescription, different meds have different doses from other meds, with the exception of groups of the same meds with the same ingredients, of the same strength, and sold by different companies.
The dose depends on the type and amount of specific ingredients in the medication. It is also different for adults and children and some do not recommend their medication for children.
With all medications one must read the recommended dose on the label before taking in order to prevent problems by either under or over medicating.

Every medicine has its own measurement so read the instructions on the bottle. Some medicines are made up with a certain amount of medicine to heal and a certain amount for flavor, color etc so though two different brands may contain the same medication, one may have more added stuff and so the brand will call for using more of it. ALWAYS take medication as directed on bottle or as the doctor says. If in doubt, call the pharmacist.

Typically an adult dose of cough syrup like triaminic in all it's formulas and generics is 2 teaspoons. I am taking it right now so it is fresh in my mind. I am not sure of a youth or childrens dose.

Yes. Depends if you're a kid or adult. Sometimes it's by the person's physical weight but usually it's posted on the label.
