How is anyone informed of this ?

99% of meateaters couldn't tell you whats in thier food and they survive ( just )

I've been veggie for 26 years and never thought about nutrients in my diet. Just eat a selection of foods, keep way from processed crap and animals.

simple.

just 100 years ago people didn't know about nutrients and they lived far more active lives than people today.

I fail to understand why people are obsessed with getting thier RDA and a whole list of vitamins and minerals into them "according to guidelines". just eat a variety of food, its simple.

Go to a dietician or look up some vegetarian recipes on the net and give them a try.Regularly go to the doctor to get blood tests.I have been a vegetarian since i was 10 yrs old and the only problem ive had lately is lacking vitamin b12 which is easily fixed with tablets or a shot of b12 .Multivitamins are also a good option.

It might be helpful to talk to a dietitian, but some are against a vegetarian diet (or just not knowledgeable about it) and may try to steer you away from it, so use caution in choosing one.

I did A LOT of research on my own (both online and from books), which is what I would suggest. I have followed a healthy vegetarian diet for more than 15 years.
Good luck!

research, reading on the subject. It takes time. One acquires the knowledge over a long period of time, reading bits and looking up things. There are a number of great books on specific things like healthy vegetarian and vegan eating/living and recipes. It is mostly common sense though. You basically know what you need. The only vitamin that vegans would have trouble getting is B12, but all soy products are fortified with it, so all is well. anyways, do a search online, visit peta, etc. their is plenty of info out there, also check your local library.

The same way anyone is. Most people, no matter what diet they follow lack nutrients. I don't know many people who eat enough whole grains and veggies on a daily basis.

Regardless of that...Google "The vegetarian food pyramid"

I read an AWESOME book about vegetarianism. It's called "The idiots guide to being vegetarian" by Frankie Avalon Wolfe. It's not preachy, and it gives an overview of the spiritual, ethical and medical reasons for going vegetarian. I highly recommend it. I bought it at Borders and it's pretty cheap.
