Yes, genital warts can cause a bad pap (HPV) and yes HPV can cause CA. I have had a bad pap and give the diagnosis of Cancer and that was 13-years ago. I just recently had a bad pap again, however it was from something else.

If they determine that it is cancer they will preform what is called a LEEP either done in the office or in the operating room. Mild discomfort after the procedure is done. This (if caught early) usually does the trick of getting rid of the CA. If you have warts they preform the same procedure or do a "freeze" done in the office (once again mild discomfort). In most cases woman are treated and HPV is usually suppressed within 2 years by our bodies own immunity. Follow the advice of your doctor and be sure to express any fears you have. That is what they are there for! Good Luck!

there is a lot of info on line but you should make sure you have a doctor you can trust when dealing with this sensitive matter. reserach on HPV (human papilloma virus) has come a long way in the last several years. If you have an abnormal pap, it does not necessarily mean you have cancer of the cervix. You need a COLPOscopy (not COLONOscopy) to verify the types of cell changes you are having. If they are not serious cell changes, you can have cryotherapy which is a freezing technique that stops the cell changes. i was told that your body can rid itself of the HPV virus over time with strong immune system, however i would get frequent pap smears. HPV does put you at a higher risk of cervical ca.

of course you should practice safe sex as HPV is transmitted sexually.
