I'm young, slender, and have low cholesterol. I also almost never exercise and don't eat right since I can get away with it with my high metabolism. There's a history of heart problems in my family. I myself have MVP, among other things.

Starting about a year and a half ago, I began experiencing various combinations of the following symptoms when performing moderate exercise (such as walking on a hot day or running up a few flights of stairs) or when under a lot of stress (like at my job):

-my heart "pounding" or feeling "funny"
-sharp pain in my chest, like with really bad heartburn, often accompanied by great nausea
-weakness in my left arm/hand and aching in my left shoulder, especially under my arm and in my armpit
-a throbbing, aching pain on the left side of my neck going up into my jaw by my ear. This was most often accompanied by a pounding heartbeat, dizziness, weakness, and feeling out of breath.
-cold sweats and feelings of panic

Of course it's possible, but not very likely for a relatively healthy person. It all depends on what kind of shape your heart is in now. You might want to get a physical done, or maybe even an EKG. Your doctor can best advise you on how your heart is currently. You can get away with eating a lot more junk during your 20's than you can in your 40's, if you have a good heart. Now is a good time to watch what you eat, you will be healthier in the long run.

The youngest I heard was at 19...i used to be a hard core smoker and also a habit of eating fast food and sweets. but I never gained weight and never really cared, until one day I was suppose to meet someone for lunch and they had to cancel on because they had to take their friend to hosiptal because she had a heart attack. I ask why and how long, they said 19 and dont know why. She didnt smoke or eat bad foods. From then on I stopped smoking and started a better health for myself. Something you should consider too!

Most heart attacks are caused by a blood clot that blocks one of the coronary arteries (the blood vessels that bring blood and oxygen to the heart muscle). When blood cannot reach part of your heart, that area starves for oxygen. If the blockage continues long enough, cells in the affected area die.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the most common underlying cause of a heart attack. CAD is the hardening and narrowing of the coronary arteries by the buildup of plaque in the inside walls (atherosclerosis). Over time, plaque buildup in the coronary arteries can:
-Narrow the arteries so that less blood flows to the heart muscle
-Completely block the arteries and the flow of blood
-Cause blood clots to form and block the arteries
So genrally smoking could give you a heart attack.
