It means food that Muslims are allowed to eat. Muslims cannot (or "haram" )eat pork and pork products, and dog and the other exotic animals. So if a food package says its 'halal' by the specialist ministry at indonesia as an example. , it means that it doesn't contain pork and is okay for Muslims.AND IT IS TOTALLY NOT SAME AS JUNK FOOD DUDE...
*The opposite of 'halal' is 'haram' - anything that is 'haram' is forbidden to Muslims

It means food that Muslims are allowed to eat. Muslims don't eat pork and pork products, and I believe there are some other food restrictions as well. So if a food package (say burgers for example) says its 'halal', it means that it doesn't contain pork and is okay for Muslims.

The term Halal is referred to how Muslims slaughter their meat...the cut the neck of the animal first...it is considered by them that the taste is best if you do it that way...

Halaal is an islamic phrase for something that is allowed for muslims. The opposite of halaal is haraam which means not allowed. Alcohol, pork, animals that are not slaughtered according to islamic law, music and adultery are all haraam. So food products that have a halaal stamp on it probably contain no alcohol or animal ingredients.
By the way ' slaughtering an animal across the throat is the least painfull way to kill it .

The animals have their throats slit while conscious.
In UK this is an illegal form of butchery UNLESS it is done in the name of religion.
