I can't eat anything with aspartame and I don't want to waste a bunch of money trying candy after candy. I found that Lifesavers Sugar-Free Butter Toffee candy is good, but would especially like some fruit-flavored hard candy and/or lollipops. Also wondering if there are sugar-free gums w/out aspartame. I don't have Diabetes, I'm trying to quit smoking and when I need candy I want to eat only sugar-free as one of my ways of controlling the amount of weight I gain.

Look for candies sweetened with sorbitol, maltitol or mannitol (there are even chocolates sweetened with these). Those are called sugar-alcohols and have a good fresh taste. They come from fruits such as prunes.
But do not overindulge in them !!! Because you cannot digest them, they are also very efficient laxatives (have had a bad experience with mannitol sweetened chocolate) ...

People who must have candy but not sugar are left with mostly 2 choices, the aspartame or saccharine . Most people don't like the saccharine aftertaste . . .
Maybe you should switch to fresh fruit as there are questions about the toxicity of the fake sugars.

Swedish fish are vegan, they don't contain gelatin :) I don't know about the nips though.
