I'm assuming that you know what a pancake is like so I'll give you the info crepes. Unlike pancakes, crepes are unleavened (no yeast, baking soda, or baking powder in the batter). A good pancake batter will be like a very thick melted milkshake in consistency. Crepe batter is very thin like melted ice cream. Crepe batter contains more eggs than pancake and really could be thought of as a floury omelet. When cooked a little bit of batter is poured into a lightly buttered crepe pan and is rolled around so that a very thin crepe is formed. A good crepe will be thinner than a flour tortilla, but tender like a pancake and should not be greasy. The French also make a larger crepe (Brittany style) that is about 10" in diameter and cooked on a special griddle rather than in a pan that is often used filled like a tortilla and then folded into a square. Crepes are good filled with just about anything from fruit and ice cream to beef stew.
Here are the ingredient lists for basic, crepes and pancakes for you to compare:
Crepes
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1-1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 pinch salt
Pancakes
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 pinch salt

The first Crepes were either adapted from the indian naan bread or from asia nobody really knows. Crepes can be sweet or savory. and traditional america pancakes are typically nothing like a crepe and to tell you the truth they shoudnt even be compared. I know by definition a crepe is a french pancake but its just not a good one

The recipes are different but the cooking is similar. pancakes are meant to eat alone or with some butter or fruit on top and crepes a thin because you put all kinds of sweet things inside and wrap it up like a pita. Why not try and make both recipes at home and you can taste the difference. The recipes are quite simple and quick.

Pancakes are thicker. French crepes are thin. The thinner, the better. Supposedly, a lot more refined than pancakes.

As a matter of interest, Americans often refer to crêpes as thin pancakes and in turn, the French like to think of pancakes as thick crêpes - go figure! The main difference between crêpes and pancakes, besides size and thickness, is that pancakes are rarely served as a main meal with salty condiments. They are usually served with sweet condiments exclusively, at breakfast time. Instead, crêpes are served all day. As breakfast, snack or main course.

Crepes are very light and very versatile. They can be served as an entree (chicken, broccoli with cheese sauce) ,dessert (slice strawberries with whip cream or creme fraiche) or even an appetizer ( lay them flat and spread with flavored cream cheese and layer them and then cut in wedges). Pancakes are really HEAVY. Though I like them and they are somewhat versatile (blueberry, apple, buckwheat etc), crepes are si manifique! Sorry, my French sucks.

Pancakes are much thicker and usually covered in syrup, but crepes are super-thin and usually filled. Good luck on your assignment!

pancakes::: thicker, more butter, american, can also be waffles if an iron is available, less possible toppings, served mainly in portions of 3, eaten with maple syrup, more commonly made, easier to make.
crepes::: very thin, can be made many different ways, harder to prepare, many toppings and fillings can be present, no syrup, but many possible sauces, presented many different ways (folded or rolled)
similiarties:::: sweet (possibly), batter-made, can be eaten with berries, popular breakfast option, etc.
