Not necessarily, some people have HPV forever and it causes no effects, at all. Chances are that you are carrying the virus at the least, only because its in your blood stream. I doubt that you will have an outbreak since she got hers taken care of, just use protection and be careful! I would seriously think about taking a blood test, your insurance covers it, that way they can probably take care of you before you get an outbreak..if you even do. Good luck!

You have definitely been exposed, because removing the warts does not get rid of the virus. There's no way to do that, unfortunately.
It is very likely that you have caught the virus; however, this does not mean that you will ever get warts. HPV often has no symptoms in either men or women. Usually a woman doesn't know until one day her pap smear is abnormal.
However, you can pass the virus to another person, even if you have never had symptoms. Condoms offer only partial protection, since it is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. A condom doesn't cover all the skin!
I know this sounds like bad news. This is a VERY common virus, you two are certainly not alone. At least it is treatable and not life-threatening.

OK, I am a 27 year old female who has HPV too. One of the millions with HPV.
Only a DNA test can determine whether she has cleared the HPV from her system. Just because she (or anyone else you have had sex with ) doesn't have symptoms doesn't mean she doesn't have it and can't pass it. Most people with HPV will never have a symptom other than an abnormal pap. If you have had unprotected sex with her you may very well get HPV (if you don't already have it from a previous partner). BUT you may not have it-SO USE A CONDOM!! I know it feels better and your guys may be in a loving commited relationship- but it's not worth getting an STD!
In any case it sounds like you girlfriend may be misinformed on HPV so do some research yourself. Don't take her word for it.
Also, be supportive of her-it is VERY mortifying to tell someone you have an STD and she was brave enough to tell you when she could have lied.

You more than likely have the virus now but will most likely never get warts. Men are usually the carriers of the virus and only rarely develop symptoms. If you ever break up with your girlfriend you should tell a new partner because you could give her HPV.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) can infect the genital area of men and women including the skin of the penis, vulva (area outside the vagina), or anus, and the linings of the vagina, cervix, or rectum.
The types of HPV that infect the genital area are spread primarily through genital contact. Most HPV infections have no signs or symptoms; therefore, most infected persons are unaware they are infected, yet they can transmit the virus to a sex partner.
There is no "cure" for HPV infection, although in most women the infection goes away on its own. The treatments provided are directed to the changes in the skin or mucous membrane caused by HPV infection, such as warts and pre-cancerous changes in the cervix.
You may want to consult with your doctor to get tested.

There is a fair to middling chance that you have caught the wart virus. It is a very contagious virus. However, having the virus does not mean you will get the warts!
There is not much to do except use condoms.
Or have warty girlfriends.

Odds are, you are a carrier of the HPV now. Whether that manifests itself as warts, remains to be seen. From this point forward, you need to wear a condom and not expose anyone else to HPV.
