You would definitely want to ask the waiter/waitress who serves you to ask the cook to under-spice your meal. There are no set dishes that are not as spicy as others. It completely depends on the cook and the restaurant that you are going to. I am Indian, I eat Indian food every night, and the food I eat at home is spiced completely differently from the restaurants that I occasionally eat Indian food at. On some menus it indicates how spicy the dish is. If you eat meat, butter chicken with naan (Indian bread) may be a good option. In a lot of Indian food, the curry or the sauce (masala) is often spicier than, for example, the pieces of chicken or actual vegetables. Dal (lentils) are also typically not very spicy. Yogurt (dahi or raita) may also reduce the spice of a dish. Simple vegetable curries like korma may also be good. Hope this helps, and happy eating! :-D

My husband suffers the same and I help run an indian restaurant. Either try something dry with very little sauce like chicken tikka (on or off the bone) ask for plain or mushroom rice rather than pilau and a side salad. Alternatively if they can make a fruity balti dish which again is mild. Try to avoid really spicy curries and those which contain peppers, onions and or tomatoes.

These are some of my favorite, not to spicy....Malaikofta.(cheese and vegetables balls in mildly spiced creamy sauce, excellent),Tandoori chicken(their version of b.b.que chicken, cooked in clay oven),Mata paneer(fried cheese and sweet peas in a mildly spiced butter and tomato sauce).Dal(like a bean dish, lentils) ,Kheer(rice pudding),Kulfi..(very good pistachio ice cream)Chicken Makhani.....(tandoori chicken pieces cooked in mildly spiced tomato, butter, cream, and spiced creamy sauce,my favorite.I like a lot of the really spicy dishes too,but these are not too spicy and some aren't spicy at all.You should eat the Raita with the mildly spiced dishes or spicy dishes ,this will keep you from getting heart burn....also try a butter milk shake with mango(mango shake),this is really good and will also keep the heartburn away...I have acid reflux ,so I know all about acid indigestion, yogurt helps a lot,and butter milk too,of course there is always apple cider vinegar and over the counter drugs...maybe take some tums with you too....Hope this helps...

Ii would recommend trying tandoori or tikka dishes. Not too spicy and no hidden chemicals or sauces.
I have the same problem with spicy food but find it is made worse by eating too much carbohydrate - so rice and naan bread are a no no for me.

I love spicy food but find the same nowadays. You could stick to Dhal or potato and spinach dishes, or if it is posh, paneer which is a cheese dish. Breads are lovely, tho papadums will give you jip. Good luck, its a great opportunity to try something different and don't be afraid to ask for advice.

Not all the dishes are spicy - ask the staff for their advice. They are usually very happy to explain about the dishes for you. Look at it as opportunity to try something new rather than good old korma!

Go for something mild like a korma or passanda, cream and yoghurt based. Avoid onion or tomato based curries also.

Stay away from the creamy dishes and opt for a dish that is tomato or lentil based.
