It sounds as if you have the flu or a very bad cold with a fever. You need to take Tylenol or Paracetamol every four hours to reduce your fever and make you feel more comfortable. You also need to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration from the fever.
If your symptoms do not improve over the next couple of days, then you need to go to a doctor and get checked out for strep throat or tonsilitis. If this turns out to be the case you will have to take prescribed anitbiotics from the doctor. If it is just a cold or the flu, antibiotics will make no difference and it just has to run its course. I hope you feel better soon!

It's hard to say. If you take your temperature and it is below 100 degrees F, it's probably just a nasty cold. If your temperature is above 100, though, you probably have the flu (viruses cause high fevers, but it's very rare that a cold will cause a fever more than 100 degrees).
You can't get rid of the flu or a cold, but you CAN treat the symptoms to keep the post-nasal drip from turning into bronchitis or sinusitis.
I would recommend some Thera-flu with phenylephrine (nasal decongestant), guafanesin (expectorant), and acetaminophen (pain killer). When you're about to go to bed, take some Benadryl to dry you up. You should feel better within a day or two.
Make sure that you're switching Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin (Ibuprofen) every four to six hours if you have a fever. Do not take Tylenol with the Theraflu, as the Theraflu already has Tylenol in it.
I hope that this helps.

Swallowing your pride can be pretty painful. But when just plain swallowing hurts, you have a real problem.
Whatever the cause ,here's how doctors say to make the most of a sore situation.
1 ) Suck medicated lozenges,as they come in different strengths check the packages instructions.
2 ) You can also try zinc lozenges.
3 ) If you can get,try Ricola herbal mint from Switzerland.
4 ) Eat lot of carrots.
5 ) Try Halls Mentho - Lyptus drops.
6 ) If it does't hurt you must gargle frequently.
Take care.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.

It could be mono which packs a very mean sore throat. Are you also tired? When I had mono I was exhausted all the time.
Another thing making the rounds this year is Whooping Cough. Either way a visit to the doctor sounds necessary.

Gargle with a teaspoon of salt mixed in a cup of warm water 2-3 times a day. Take a couple of aspirin, drink plenty of juice/water and go to bed.
It sounds as if you are coming down with a flu or virus. If it doesn't clear by day's end, visit your doctor as meds may be required.

Drink lots of water. You have the flu. You can take flu medicine to help you, but it won't make the flu go away. Stay in bed and keep warm.
