Now I think you are somewhat confused. HIV is what causes AIDS. HIV is transmitted via sexual intercourse (oral, anal, and vaginal), body fluids such as semen, vaginal secretions, blood, AND breast milk!

Breast milk from an infected woman contains the virus (HIV) that causes AIDS. The conditions in the stomach does NOT kill this virus! It is not exposed to the acidic conditions long enough! It then passes through to the intestine where it is absorbed into the blood where you are now infected!

I have to say, the notion that breast milk could cause AIDS is a new one to me. I have no idea, beyond the fact that it's a "bodily fluid." Even then, the milk presumably would go into an infant's stomach, and be mixed with stomach acid, which would seem to me to pretty much take care of any threat of HIV viruses creating a problem.

If a woman has AIDS and she gets pregnant and has a baby, the virus will pass through her placenta into the baby. The virus is secreted in lesser amount in breast milk. Therefore, the baby has already become infected, and she may breast -feed. However, if a mother was HIV negative during pregnancy and has become HIV positive later, she should discontinue breast- feeding because of the risk to the baby.

HIV does not pass from a mother to her baby through the placenta. Moms and babies do not share any blood during pregnancy. If a woman knows that she has HIV/AIDs she will not be able to breastfeed her baby because HIV is transmitted through bodily fluids.
